We Plant Churches

Fresh. New. Expressions.

Why?

New churches reach new people, new residents, and new generations. The average new church reaches people who were not currently attending a church, who may not know Jesus or had become disenfranchised with "church". This is in contrast to churches that are 15+ years old who gain the high majority of new member by people transferring from other churches.

Jesus' essential call was to plant churches not to just do some evangelism. All evangelism of the New Testament leads to the formation and planting of churches, not simply to share the faith. The "Great Commission" (Matthew 28:18-20) is not only a call to "make disciples" but to "baptize" new believers in the "Father, Son and Holy Spirit," which is their new family of God. In Acts and everywhere else, it is clear that baptism means incorporation into a worshipping community where we learn to live a robust life in Christ. (Acts 2:41-47)

Ministry Fit Assessment Workshop

The Assessment Process involves the following three steps, which we pursue in addition to whatever preparation, training, and requirements a sending church, denomination, agency, or network separately requires of a candidate.

  1. Application Process
Before being invited into an Assessment Workshop, a candidate will fill out the CV Ministry Assessment Application and any follow-up steps recommended by the application review process.
  2. Assessment Workshop Week
(Only) after completing Step 1 and being invited, a candidate (and his spouse if applicable) attends an Assessment Workshop Week. A candidate's spouse will be required to participate in the Assessment Workshop, and it is highly recommended that a representative of the candidate's sending church participate as well.
  3. Assessment Report and Recommendation
Following steps 1 and 2, CVNW's Assessment Team prepares a report for each candidate, based on the discussions, observations, prayer, inventories, and collective discernment in those first steps. The report includes the team's conclusions and recommendations, for the candidate and his family/sending agency to consider as they take next steps together.
